What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy is a therapeutic modality that was first developed in the 1980s by Francine Shapiro, PhD. While EMDR is an intervention, it is also its own means of conceptualizing mental health and healing. It is based in the concept of adaptive information processing, meaning the body/brain want to and are able to heal naturally. When traumatic events occur, the natural healing/processing becomes stuck. How much will therapy cost?
Mental health is part of your overall health, quality of life, and is worth investing in. Each clinician has their own rates, though insurance companies have negotiated rates for in network and out of network. Depending on your plan, insurances may cover the whole cost, partial coverage where you have a co-pay/co-insurance or may cover service once a deductible is met. You can always contact your insurance company to get precise costs for your individual plan.
